This week we welcome three famous faces to the bearded brotherhood: Jeremy Vine, Matt Smith, and, surprisingly, The Rock. BBC radio host Jeremy Vine grew a holiday beard and posted it to Twitter, quickly drawing comparisons to another Jeremy – that is, Jeremy Corbyn, leader of the Labor Party. Meanwhile, Matt Smith’s blond beard is sadly probably temporary: it’s for his role as Prince Philip on The Crown. And did you know The Rock had “grow an in-between-projects beard” on his bucket list? While he’s almost always immersed in some type of role, he finally checked this one off his list, debuting a fresh salt-and-pepper beard in Vancouver.
In sports, Carolina Panthers rookie Ben Boulware and veteran Star Lotulelei engage in an intense beard competition at training camp. And the Dalai Lama can’t get enough of spiritual leader Baba Ramdev’s beard at a peace meeting.
We finish things off with a profile on a longtime favorite store of ours: Manready Mercantile, the product of owner Travis Weaver’s goal to start a business without handouts or a trust fund.
